Trust me he appreciates the public taking an interest.
I can't speak for him but he has revamped the whole maintenance department. One man is now over the whole maintenance section and has a business degree. His job is to identify problems, write them up and then see that they are corrected within a certain amount of time. Each school will have its own maintenance department. But while this man's job is to identify and see that corrections and repairs are made he is also tasked with preventive maintenance. This is the first time for that as far as I know. He is to be proactive in stopping issues before they occur, not reactive to what has already happened. All maintenance requests are now written up via computer with a work order. Each repair or upgrade will be signed off on by the school Principal. All maintenance will be compiled and gone over monthly at the Central Office in a maintenance meeting.
One member of the school board told me that this new maintenance situation saved the schools almost $50,000 in one repair that was done in house instead of being formed out to a Knoxville company. Part of that was in recruiting free help from local people.
